Montelukast is a medication that is used to prevent the symptoms of asthma, such as wheezing, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, and coughing in adults and children 12 months of age and older. It is also used to prevent bronchospasm (breathing difficulties) during exercise in adults and children 6 years of age and older.
